Granite Lake

Granite Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The South Fork Kings River’s valley is comparable to Yosemite Valley in many ways, but without the crowds. Granite Basin is perched high above the north rim of this valley, with a setting definitely worthy of a king—or a queen, for that matter. The climb out of the valley is arduous, but once you experience the matchless scenery and excellent fishing at Granite Lake, the memory of the difficult ascent will soon fade."

"Nestled between sweeping meadows and the base of skyscraping mountains, Granite Lake attracts many visitors for reasons that need no further explanation. However, the often-overlooked crown jewel of this area is the glorious ascent to Granite Pass, an easy morning stroll from the lake. (Note: The ascent from the valley floor to the lake and pass is long and can be extremely hot. Even hikers who are in good physical condition should plan an early start to avoid the midday heat, and carry at least two quarts of water per person.)"
