A vigorous climb through some of the Sierra’s finest wildflower gardens to a pair of high alpine lakes. The Mineral King Valley must be one of the most sublimely beautiful places in the world. Its sharp peaks and silvery waterfalls are reminiscent of the Swiss Alps, but infinitely wilder. No placid milk cows or tidy farmhouses here, just brilliant red and white rocks, splashes of wildflower color over the green, green meadows, rustling cottonwood groves, and windblown clusters of foxtail pines on the high, lonely ridges.
