Bearpaw Meadow to Sugarbowl Dome Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This fun, exciting cross-country walk delves through thick forest to a dome with superb views of Kaweah Canyon and the Great Western Divide. Reaching the saddle, thicker woods of red fir, Jeffrey pine, and sugar pine begin to close in. We keep our southwest course along the ridge, sidestepping the large patches of manzanita. In short order, the steep slope of the second hump appears through the trees. Experienced route-finders could avoid a steep climb and a bit of bushwhacking here by following a contour around the hilltop, but the surest route is to stick to the ridge. We climb steeply up the second hump, detouring left and right around clumps of shrubbery and downed timber."
