100 Classic Hikes in Southern California
by Allen Riedel (The Mountaineers Books)
A use trail leads to the top of Tehachapi Mountain, and some white rocks have been conveniently placed along the road showing hikers where to turn right and ascend the ridge. The use trail is steep and follows the ridge to the summit for the rest of the way. As the trail ascends, the locale looks much like that of the higher reaches of the Angeles, Los Padres, and even Sequoia national forests. The trail is duff-covered with pine needles, and the rocks are mostly granite.
