TRT Ward Canyon to Twin Peaks

Tahoe City, California

TRT: Ward Canyon to Twin Peaks Professional Review and Guide

"This trip combines one of the best wildflower gardens with one of the best summit views found anywhere in the Tahoe Basin. Despite the natural beauty, this section of the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT ) is not as heavily used as might be expected. The last quarter mile to the top of Twin Peaks is off-trail, requiring a short scramble over rocky terrain.

Beyond the crossing, head upstream, from Ward Peak Boulevard, the TRT follows an easy stroll along the old road making a gentle climb alongside the dancing creek amid more lush flower gardens. The profuse variety of wildflowers you’re apt to see along Ward Canyon include red firs, aster, and quaking aspens."
