Osprey Overlook Trail

Osprey Overlook Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Any casual observation of Eagle Lake reveals a vast number of waterfowl floating on or flying above the surface. One of the more interesting members of the lake’s avian community is the osprey, a black and white hawk that feeds almost exclusively on fish.

Some time ago, wildlife biologists hoping to lure ospreys placed an osprey nest on the top of a Jeffrey pine snag near the southeast shore of the lake, which visitors can glimpse from this short and easy trail. With a little more energy, you can continue along the shoreline and then up a steep hillside to an overlook for excellent views across the large lake. The overlook, which is equipped for telescopes and has a picnic table nearby, is wheelchair accessible."
