Death Valley Wildrose

Death Valley: Wildrose Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Finding the campground: From Stovepipe Wells Village, drive south on CA 190 for 8 miles. Just past the Emigrant Ranger Station, take Emigrant Canyon Road, which forks left off CA 190. Continue for 21 more miles. The road is steep, winding, and narrow, and not recommended for vehicles longer than 25 feet.

About the campground: A wild, lonely beauty surrounds Wildrose, which may explain why, despite its lack of amenities, Sunset magazine lists it as one of the one hundred best campgrounds in the western United States. An 8.2-mile round-trip hiking trail at the end of Wildrose Canyon Road, 7 miles east of the campground at Charcoal Kilns, leads to Wildrose Peak (9,054 feet). Elevation 4,100 feet. Stay limit thirty days. Open all year."
