Lower Peppermint sits smack dab in the middle of great Northern Sierra camping near the spectacular scenery of Dome Rock and The Needles. On your way, obtain a fire permit because it increases your camping possibilities a hundredfold. You can get one from Greenhorn Ranger Station on CA 155, at Lake Isabella, a few miles east of Bakersfield, or at Cannell Meadow Ranger Station in Kernville. The free permit allows you to camp almost anywhere in Sequoia National Forest.
