Big Meadow

Big Meadow Professional Review and Guide

"A quick climb along a churning creek leads to the seductive expanse of Big Meadow, alive with wildflowers that change color with the seasons. The waterway becomes a meander among the grasses, where you are likely to find yourself alone with its chatter and the wind rustling the pines.

Mountain meadows witness the passage of the seasons in magical ways. In springtime and early summer, wildflowers erupt in pockets of red, purple, pink, orange, blue, white, and yellow, and the grasses vibrate with butterflies and bees harvesting nectar. By late summer and autumn, the flowers have faded, but the grasses have absorbed the warm hues of the summer sun, glistening gold and rattling in the breezes. Even in winter, blanketed in thick snow, a mountain meadow is meditative and impressive."

More Big Meadow Professional Reviews and Guides

"Big Meadow is a beautiful subalpine meadow covered in wildflowers with Big Meadow Creek meandering through it. The meadow is surrounded by trees and snow-capped mountain peaks. It is an ideal location for a picnic. The trail to Big Meadow follows a small portion of the Tahoe Rim Trail through a fir and pine forest."
