Lying barely an hour’s walk from the trailhead, Sword and Lost lakes are popular destinations, so to avoid the crowds, visit them during the weekdays. Both lakes, among the warmest in the Sierra Nevada, offer slab benches, some of which are great for high-diving or jumping and all of which are great for sunbathing. From Monday through Thursday you have the lakes almost to yourself, but they can be quite popular from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
