Mt.Judah Loop Professional Review and Guide

"With a minimal effort, hikers can reach some of the grandest views available in the northern Tahoe Sierra via the 4.6-mile Mt. Judah Loop. The rugged terrain around Donner Pass is quite impressive, and the loop affords many excellent vista points on the way to the awe-inspiring view from the summit of Mt. Judah.

The section of the loop that connects with the Pacific Crest Trail is relatively new, constructed in the 1990s, but despite its newness, the Mt. Judah Loop has justifiably become a very popular hike; don’t anticipate a lot of solitude. Be sure to pack plenty of water, as none is available en route."

Beautiful vistas and magnificence wildflowers on full display. As stated in the guidebook, this trail does get a lot of usage. For the most part our fellow hikers were courteous and displayed good trail manners. We took the northern turn off for the Mt Judah loop which I believe turned out to be the correct choice as the southern one is fully exposed to the blistering sun. Rocky part was typical Sierra Nevada trail and nothing to get excited about. Again the wildflowers were out of this world, we timed it correctly....go and enjoy
