Emerald, Rim, and Cypress Lakes Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This out and back trip to a trio of lakes offers some of the best scenery in Caribou Wilderness. Each lake is picturesque in its own right, but the trail’s sweeping views provide further attractions, and backpackers will find good campsites and fine swimming at each of the lakes.
Most of the elevation gain occurs during the last 2.25 miles, which seems to deter the masses, as these lakes—especially Rim and Cypress—receive light use. From Cypress Lake, the straightforward crosscountry route to the top of 7793-foot North Caribou Mountain provides another potentially rewarding endeavor."
