"The Kaiser Loop is a strenuous trail that combines a climb to an outstanding panoramic view of the High Sierra with a tour through the forest and meadows of the lower portions of the Kaiser Wilderness. Backpackers may find it difficult to obtain permits as the Deer Creek Trailhead (where the loop begins) has a daily quota of six people. However, Billy Creek Trailhead is a good second choice and adds only 1.8 miles to the total loop." Read more

"Kaiser Peak stands alone—a western spur of the towering Sierra ridge that bounds the San Joaquin River. Ascend this peak and stand upon the lip of a great divide." Read more

Killer hike! I mean it really is challenging. It is fun and beautiful, too. I guess some people might want to do it all in one day but that seems a little bit much. Awesome views much of the way, lots of lakes and creeks. My girl, dog, and I made a detour to secluded Nellie Lake and camped there. Great backpacking area.

Amazing hike, we did it in one day. We did it in 12 hours and moved at a moderate pace. It's exhausting, only do this if you love hiking. The gracier is beautiful. I did it with my dog, though I had to carry her at times. The last mile is bouldering up an avalanche chute and following cairns. Bring bug spray, the mosquitos are brutal as the day gets later.
