Wood Chuck Lake Trail

Wood Chuck Lake Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located in the midst of rolling ridges, small meadows, and a shady forest, Wood Chuck Lake is the largest of the picturesque lakes in scenic Woodchuck Basin. Although lacking in the broad vistas and moonlike landscapes of the High Sierra, the lake and basin area is ideal for hikers throughout the entire summer."

An awesome hike! The first day we hiked all the way to the lake. That was very difficult but totally worth it. Next day was spent at the lake. Third day we hiked out. Be careful on the way out, trail is poorly marked after leaving the east side of lake.

It's a full 9 miles up some moderately steep terrain. the lake is great once you get there with decent fishing.

Great hike, especially for beginners. Had a difficult time crossing the first river (it was early in the season), must be able to walk across logs high over a rushing river. Dogs had no problem!
