Excellent trail through the John Muir Wilderness and into the northern reaches of Kings Canyon. Much of the trail winds its way over beautiful stretches of the San Joaquin River and Evolution Creek, with ample campsites both near the trail and secluded from view if you take the time to find them. One tip: give yourself plenty of time to reach the trailhead at Florence Lake, considering the last stretch of 17 miles of road is single lane asphalt with some turnouts along the edge of some pretty sketchy cliffs. Trip was absolutely beautiful this time of the year (although a bit cold at night), and had two days at Mcclure Meadow all to ourselves.
