Dinkey Lakes Trail

Shaver Lake, California

Dinkey Lakes Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This Dinkey Lakes Wilderness hike takes you past four lakes and several meadows at the edge of the forest cradled by granite mounds. The trail is mostly on a level to moderate grade except for the necessary short, strenuous sprints between lakes. This jaunt is made to order for dogs that love to scurry, splash, and be merry. Coincidentally, according to the forest service, the area was named after a little dog, who reportedly tussled with a grizzly in these parts in 1889."

Great hike. Easily done in a day. I recommend hiking the direction of Mystery Lake first. Lots of mesquitos so wear repelent. We had a GPS so we went on to Rock Lake and then up to view Dogtooth Peak. Definately worth the extra hiking to see. Makes the hike 11.65 miles. I would rate this a 3 in difficultly.
