East Fork Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"East Fork Lakes is one of those lost-and-forgotten corners of the Trinity Alps. The small lake is not much more than a little pond, really, tucked up in a pretty but isolated basin on the north side of Monument Peak. This obscurity, ironically, is highlighted by the multitude of people who drive by the trailhead each summer. The East Fork Lake Trail is on the way to Canyon Creek, which means 99.9 percent of the people who pass the trailhead just keep on going. Of course, that’s not too surprising, considering Canyon Creek (Hike 4) is arguably the most spectacular destination in the Trinity Alps. It’s also one of the most crowded, so if you’ve already seen it—or you’re after solitude—just hang a right at the sign for East Fork Lake and rest assured no one else is likely to follow. Highlights: A secluded granite cirque with a shallow little lake at its base; no crowds."
