Sunset Rock Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"This seldom-traveled path takes you past the roaring Marble Fork of the Kaweah, through a peaceful forest, and to great views from Sunset Rock. This trek begins by following the slender path north, past a trail sign that gives mile-ages to various destinations, along the turbulent Marble Fork of the Kaweah.

The trail begins an ascent of many switchbacks, first through the shade of oaks, cedars, firs, and dogwoods, then, at about 0.6 mile, across a more exposed slope of overgrown bear clover (also known as mountain misery, which may be a more fitting name here)."

"An easy hike with negligible elevation gain leads hikers to a vista point atop the summit of one of Sequoia’s numerous granite domes. Despite the short distance, the trail offers relative peace and quiet, along with good views from the top."
