Howarth Park lies adjacent to Spring Lake Regional Park on the east side of Santa Rosa. The diverse 152-acre community park is one of the city’s oldest and largest parks. It includes tennis courts; a softball field; a climbing wall; an amusement area with a train, carousel, and animal barn; and a 25-acre lake with boat rentals. Hiking and biking trails surround Lake Ralphine in the center of the park. The trails connect with Spring Lake Regional Park (Hike 80) and continue into Annadel State Park (Hikes 81–85). This easy hike makes a pleasant loop around Lake Ralphine under stands of oaks.
