The trail to the ridge is actually a well-maintained, little-used dirt and gravel service road leading to several communication towers and Los Padres National Forest trails. The road crosses private property for the first 2 miles before entering Los Padres National Forest for another couple of miles of trail. The highlight of this hike that winds gradually to a panoramic summit is the open views overlooking San Luis Obispo and the nearby morros (the nine hills belonging to a chain of ancient volcanoes) all the way to the coast.
