East Cuesta Ridge Road

Santa Margarita, California

East Cuesta Ridge Road Professional Review and Guide

"The East Cuesta Ridge Road, also called the Mount Lowe Road, begins at the summit of the Cuesta Grade. The unpaved road traverses the mountain along the Santa Lucia Wilderness through the shade of an oak, pine, and manzanita forest. The hike offers a unique vantage point for fantastic views of San Luis Obispo and across the West Cuesta Ridge to the ocean, from Morro Bay to the Pismo Dunes. There are panoramic vistas of the Los Osos and Chorro Valleys, separated by the chain of volcanic morros. The road continues past the radio facility on Mount Lowe to Lopez Canyon at just under 5 miles."

Good road for hiking or biking. The view is worth the hike although it’s not the difficult of a hike. I would like to see more parking here, carpool if you can. I usually bike this trail once a month and is good when it has been raining.
