What a great way to spend a December day in California. My three daughters (5,8,12) my wife, swiss mountain pup and myself made this trip and had a blast. My girls are troopers,so i would not recommend for the weak of legs. Great picnic spot on the lake at horsecamp (3 miles from parking lot)and tons of mature manzanita, oaks and pines to gawk at. Abundant wildlife, a coyote watched us walk thru his turf, and then scampered off. Perfect day and i would recommend this hike for anyone who wants to get away and see the area how it was for millions of years before we arrived.
