Santa Barbara Coastal Bluffs Professional Review and Guide

"The Santa Barbara Coastal Bluffs, also known as The Douglas Family Preserve, is a 70-acre grassy mesa with over 2,200 feet of rare, undeveloped ocean frontage. The preserve is covered with mature oaks, eucalyptus, and cypress trees. The trail loops around the mesa along the edge of the cliffs. Below the cliffs is the picturesque Arroyo Burro Beach, locally known as Hendry’s Beach. There are picnic areas and a paved biking and walking path."

Remember to stop to look between the trees to see the amazing views. The center trees are elfin trees that droop their branches- planted there so children can "hide" in their own little world. Other trees include eucalyptus and oaks and sycamores and cyprus.About 1959 I planted the trees and other mature plants as a memorial to Herschel Danielovitch, father of actor Kirk Douglas. Planted at the request of Kirk Douglas with the permision of the owners, the Wilcox family and the urging of the City of Santa Barbara and the County of Santa Barbara.
