This easily accessible multi- use trail on the south- facing slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains near Santa Barbara, where hikes are often dry, uphill schleps, has the distinction of climbing alongside a creek to a seasonal waterfall. Even at the height of a four- year drought, this creek had a trickle and two small but limpid swimming holes inviting dogs for a splash. Responsive pooches can scamper off leash.
