    El Capitan State Beach

El Capitan State Beach Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"El Capitan is listed by Sunset magazine as one of the one hundred best campgrounds in the West. Campsites are located on a wooded bluff above the beach, and stairways descend to the water. There is a good view of the Channel Islands.

Trains pass nearby. A 2-mile bike path connects El Capitan and Refugio State Beach (see above). Refugio is more scenic and has a better beach, but El Capitan does offer the better campground. Stay limit seven days from June through September, fifteen days from October through May. Open all year."
