Fremont Peak State Park is deliriously pretty in April and May, when the spring grasses are green and feathery and the flowers are blooming. It’s a great place to go when the coast is socked in with fog. Climb to the peak and look out over both the richest farmland and the richest marine area in the world.

$22 fee but it's cheaper than a motel on the PCH. It's basically set up for RV's to park on little driveways along the roads that wind through the campsite. There's a big meadow in the middle of the forest off of the PCH where most of the campsites are. Running water, outhouses, not much privacy. No easy access to the beach or cliffs from here. Fire pits, picnic tables. I would recommend bringing your own firewood.
