Ran along this trail as part of a marathon event and I was blown away by how beautiful it was. I loved the challenging hills and sweeping views at the top.

The Penny Pines Trail had a lot to offer. The trail itself is very easy. There are not too many grades, and it is relatively flat. The cool part of this trail is that it offers many available off-shoots to go and look at the desert floor below. The trail also comes to a T where you can take the Garnet Peak Trail to the summit for a nice view. One unfortunate aspect is that it is an out and back trail. I prefer loops. It was pretty warm in January, and there are no shady areas. It would probably be pretty hot in the summer time. There are also views of the Sunset Hwy, which puts a damper on things at times when cars are flying by.
