Cajon Mountain

Cajon Mountain Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Cajon Mountain (5,310 feet) towers over the lower end of the Cajon Pass area, and its summit offers a sweeping panorama of the great fault-carved passage through the mountains. From here you can see the San Andreas Fault, its strange slanting ridges and twisted rock formations all bearing in a northwest-southeast direction.

Directly below is the Blue Cut, where Cajon Canyon narrows to a gorge and crosses the fault. The view beyond is equally grand, with Mount San Antonio (Old Baldy) and the cluster of high peaks at the east end of the San Gabriels looming massive and grayish. This trip is all on fire road. In the winter and early spring, the eastern peaks of the San Gabriels are dazzling in their mantle of whiteness, and the foothills are velvet-green."
