"When you need a place to hike that’s close to home yet still has a natural look and feel to it, William Land Park is the place to visit.Leading through a grand old city park, this biking and jogging track is a wonderful place to hike among the native and ornamental trees, which border some wonderfully architected homes.The route begins in front of the zoo, winds along the fishing pond and the golf course, and then leads on to circumnavigate the ball fields."

"Flat, easy paths wind through one of Sacramento’s premier city parks, circling ponds, skirting a golf course, and permitting access to family attractions including the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town. William Land Park is one of Sacramento’s first urban sanctuaries. The park was conceived in 1911, when former mayor William Land gifted the city a generous sum of money earmarked for a city park. The parcel, called a “swamp” by Land’s heirs, according to writer Steven Avella, was purchased in 1918, though controversy about its suitability landed the acquisition in court." Read more
