Putah Creek Loop Trail

Putah Creek Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Tucked along an out-of-the-way stretch of Putah Creek, amid agricultural parcels outside the city of Davis, this loop trail offers seclusion, bird watching, and a chance to monitor the progress of an effort to restore agricultural land to native habitat.

The south fork of Putah Creek flows east from Lake Berryessa in the coastal mountains into the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, and then into the Sacramento River delta. The flow seems backwards, seeing as the Pacific Ocean lies in the opposite direction. But the creek does eventually reach that goal, providing water for farms and fields in the western reaches of the southern Sacramento Valley along the way."
