Since the site of Hiram and Elizabeth Allen’s ranch house, as well as a food preparation site for the native Valley Nisenan and Southern Maidu people, Otiny Miners Ravine Reserve is packed with both historical and natural values. The Allens ranched and farmed more than 400 acres in the Miners Ravine area, including the 24 acres now part of the reserve, beginning in the 1860s.
