Delta Meadows River Park

Delta Meadows River Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This obscure little park has been “closed” since 2010—the result of budget constraints like those that resulted in the threat of closure for many California state parks in 2012—but the single trail, built on a former railroad grade, is still open to foot traffic. Obscurity lends Delta Meadows a unique feel.

Even the most minimal amenities are missing, and toward trail’s end lush, untamed riparian plants and grasses encroach on the treadway. It could be viewed as a neglected child, a bit sad and a little shabby, but instead it feels content and grandmotherly. Perhaps those qualities—a sense of calm and of hidden depths—drew park planners to acquire the property in the first place."
