Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The relative wildness of the Dry Creek riparian corridor and a patch of bird-filled marshland bookend pastures and paddocks at Gibson Ranch County Park. A circumnavigation of Gibson Ranch captures in a snapshot the meshing of natural, agricultural, and suburban worlds. The richness of the riparian zone along Dry Creek backs up to pastures and paddocks, pastures back up to the fenced-off backyards of neighborhood homes, and a birdsong-filled marsh backs up to farm roads and a radio tower. The park’s perimeter trail encompasses all this diversity and more. The route begins in the Dry Creek riparian corridor, a northwestern Sacramento greenbelt that is the subject of ongoing restoration efforts and plans to extend a multiuse path along its length. Contrary to its name, Dry Creek runs year-round. Within the park it is an inviting waterway bordered by oaks, cottonwoods, buckeyes, and tangled figs. Side trails drop to sandy beaches where you can wade or skip stones."
