Iron Canyon Drive

Iron Canyon Drive Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a short and convenient semiloop that begins and ends on S.R. 14. It offers the chance to experience the park’s multicolored, intricately eroded cliffs of uplifted sedimentary and volcanic rock without a big time commitment. If you’re heading north or south on the highway, don’t pass it up. If you have more time, it also provides access to Nightmare Gulch, an exceptionally beautiful and narrow canyon where golden eagles and prairie falcons nest. (Nightmare Gulch is closed to all access from February 1 to July 1 to protect raptors during nesting. From July through February the 4WD road is closed to vehicles from the 16th of the month through the last day of the month.)"
