Shasta-Trinity NRA - Whiskeytown Unit Campgrounds Professional Review and Guide
"Whiskeytown Lake, with a 3,200-acre surface area and 36 miles of shoreline, is the central attraction of this smallest of the three units in the national recreation area. In addition to most water sports (including scuba diving), you can hike 45 miles of trails, explore historical gold rush sites, and pan for gold. Gathering dead wood for campfires is allowed, but a $10 permit is required. The lake is stocked annually with 50,000 rainbow trout and 2,000 brown trout. There is also a resident population of largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, as well as kokanee salmon. Campgrounds included in this eTrail are: Brandy Creek, Dry Creek, and Oak Bottom."
