The Sacramento River Trail is the pride and joy of Redding, and rightfully so. This masterpiece of a hike leads to the phenomenal Sundial Bridge, an architectural trophy over the Sacramento River. You can begin the route at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, which is home to a day’s worth of activities in itself. The other 12 miles of the River Trail get up close and personal with life in the riparian zone. You may spy river otters, beavers, and dozens of shorebirds along the trail’s wide paved paths.
