Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Finding the campground: From the intersection of CA 44 and I-5 in Redding, drive south 16 miles on I-5. Turn east onto Balls Ferry Road and drive 5 miles.

About the campground: Though a group site and not a family site, this campground has its own entry because there are little other opportunities to camp in this area except for boat-in campgrounds. Situated on the banks of the Sacramento River, with fishing for trout, salmon, steelhead, and bass. This Class I and II section is popular for rafts, kayaks, and canoes. Swimming is not recommended. Elevation 360 feet. Stay limit 14 days. Open all year."
