San Pasqual Trails South Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The San Dieguito River Park’s San Pasqual (also known as Clevenger Canyon) trail system lies within San Diego County’s arid interior, east of Escondido. These trails expose you to steep, boulder-frosted hillsides, clothed in a tough mixture of vegetation that is recovering from the 2007 Guejito Fire.

You’ll see fast-growing sage scrub plants and slower-growing chaparral. Because of the high summer temperatures, it’s best to hike in cool months. Here and there, you’ll benefit from the shade of coast live oaks—hardy survivors that have seen many wildfires over a span of decades or longer."
