"Barnett Ranch County Preserve, operated by the county of San Diego, is one of several former cattle ranches converted in recent years to parkland throughout San Diego’s suburban and rural areas. An ongoing project called the Multiple Species Conservation Program aims to protect key parcels such as this one for the benefit of indigenous flora and fauna, as well as for human visitors. Barnett Ranch County Preserve spreads across about 728 acres of gently rolling grasslands and sage-and chaparral-covered slopes. The preserve offers multiuse trails (former unpaved ranch roads) that take you to nearly every corner of the property."

The trail to the west is nice. Flat and at turn around is a big oak tree with a few picnic tables. The south trail after a bit of flat goes down hill moderately to a view point. Nice view but back up you go.
