The conical summit of North San Diego County’s Iron Mountain rises nearly 2700 feet above sea level, frequently well above the low-lying coastal haze. On many a crystalline winter day, the summit offers a sweeping, 360-degree panorama from glistening ocean to blue mountains and back to the ocean again. Access to the summit—by foot, horse, or mountain bike—is afforded by a key link in the City of Poway’s extensive multiuse trails system.
