Milsap Bar Trail

Milsap Bar Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The trail leaves FR 94, 10.7 miles northeast of Feather Falls. It is unsigned at first, but marked FR 62 a short distance past the start. The trail immediately starts to descend a shelf road through a mix of forest, winding down the side of the valley toward the Middle Fork of the Feather River. The trail surface is uneven enough to require a high-clearance vehicle. A small forest service campground sits alongside the Middle Fork of the Feather River at Milsap Bar. There is currently no fee for camping there. The campground is popular with anglers because Milsap Bar offers some of the best rainbow trout fishing in the region. Special Attractions: Excellent fishing at Milsap Bar; Riverside camping and swimming in the Middle Fork of the Feather River; Access to Big Bald Rock Trailhead for hikers; Historic Cascade Bar near the start of the trail. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
