The trail is great for those who are beginning hikers/people who are not physically active. It is relatively flat at first, then has gradual the steep slope, then is relatively flat to chimney rock. We were fortunate enough to be there when the weather was nice (no wind, sunny, cold front), and the elephant seals had arrived. There was a large family on the Drake's Bay side of the Trailhead and some smaller families on the ocean side. There were a ton of deer on the trailhead which is surprising because I thought there were only cattle and Elk on Point Reyes. I would highly recommend this trail head at this time of year for families, just make sure you hold your child's hind when you get to the edges b/c the dropoffs are steep and dramatic.
