North Shore Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"The North Shore Trail parallels the northern headlands of Point Lobos State Reserve at the southern end of Carmel Bay. The beautiful trail follows the exposed and rugged coast past sheer granite cliffs and coves. A spur trail leads to an overlook of Guillemot Island, a rocky offshore nesting site for seabirds. A second spur trail leads to Cypress Cove and Old Veteran, a windswept, gnarled Monterey cypress clinging to the cliffs of the cove. The main trail, perched above the rocky cliffs, winds through a canopy of Monterey pines and cypress draped with veils of lichen."
