The trail hugs the rolling ridgeline, then switchbacks northeast down into Omstott Canyon. Turn left and follow the trail down the canyon. (If you are doing this hike in the opposite direction, beware: this junction can be hard to spot. It is easy to miss the point where the trail leaves Omstott Canyon. If you find yourself wandering up the canyon bottom, you’ve missed the turnoff.)
