Bear Valley Road Professional Review and Guide
"A fun and short entry-level 4WD route with some wonderful vistas from well over 4,000 feet. As you will see by the spent cartridges littering this area, people are ignoring the No Shooting signs. Look beyond the litter at the chaparral-covered hills and vast panarama south to Baja California and east toward the desert and you will see why this drive is worth taking."
--Tony Huegel, California Coastal Byways (Wilderness Press).
Had a nice ride with good trail conditions today.
The cycles were out, so we took special care.
There were so ruts & rocks & steep areas. Just make sure your vehicle can manage.
The far side gate was locked. We toured Long Peak trail and then backtracked to exit the way we came in at Pine Valley road.
