Towne Fire Road Professional Reviews and Guides
"This area of the Santa Cruz Mountains is blessed with redwood groves, sunny meadows, and endless views of conifer-crested ridges. In fact, some of the largest coast redwoods in San Mateo County are found here. There are many trails connecting the parks throughout the region, and the Sierra Club operates a Hikers’ Hut on a sunny slope in the middle of it all. The hike is hilly, though not strenuous, along wide trails easily shared with horses. The trail climbs through the forest to the sunny ridge, then follows the ridge to the higher-still Hikers’ Hut. Park activities include horseback riding, walking, and picnicking."
