Nacimiento Reservoir Professional Review and Guide
"This water is best known for its white bass population. The game fish are indeed doing just fine in this reservoir. It is, in fact, the only water left in California with such a fishery. During the spring these bass head toward the narrows and the river mouth to spawn. It’s a popular time to work the deep pools in this water (though the boat ride to these environs does take a while). Throughout the summer season, when the white bass return to the open lake, you can spot them as they crash on baitfish at the surface. Look for topwater boils, diving birds, or a ring of boats targeting the bass. These fish can really put on a show for you! Boats are a real necessity to maximize your white bass action. Types of Fish: Largemouth, smallmouth, and white bass; crappie; panfish. This fly-fishing chapter describes the "where, when, and how" for fishing in this area. It includes a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to use, the best flies to use, season, limits, nearby accommodations, and camping."
