Eaton Canyon Falls and Henninger Flats

Eaton Canyon Falls and Henninger Flats Professional Review and Guide

"This very popular trail parallels a seasonal stream and leads to the foot of a 30-foot waterfall and swimming hole. The last 0.5 mile requires some scrambling over boulders. Those looking for more solitude can opt for the more strenuous 7-mile round-trip trail to Henninger Flats or tackle both trails for an all-day adventure.

Before setting out, stop at the nature center for a trail map and a guide to the canyon’s native plants, which include honeysuckle, laurel sumac, toyon, yucca, prickly pear cactus,
and matilija poppy. From the far northern end of the parking lot, walk around a fire-road gate and head north toward a landscaped picnic area. You’ll glimpse some private homes on your left."

An easy scenic kid and dog-friendly — but crowded — 3.84 mile mike to one of Los Angeles County’s most popular waterfalls. (Date hiked: May 29, 2010.) Read the full write-up at: http://www.greeneadventures.com/2011/02/21/eaton-canyon-falls-easy-and-crowded-but-well-worth-hiking/
