Santa Rosa Mountain / Sawmill Trail Professional Review and Guide
"If you're ever in the Coachella Valley and think it's just too darn scorching to ride, think again. This 26.3-mile out-and-back is a surefire beat-the-heat ride, rewarding cyclists with cool mountain breezes and even a gurgling mountain spring. For some reason, the 4100-foot climb feels more gradual than one would expect. Maybe it's the gobsmacking views. But whatever the case, even cyclists who normally loathe out-and-back excursions on fire roads will appreciate this trip. Scenery includes panoramic views of the Santa Rosa range, as well as Mt. San Jacinto and even t. San Gorgonio."
