Tourmaline Surfing Park to Pacific Beach Park

Pacific Beach, California

Tourmaline Surfing Park to Pacific Beach Park Professional Review and Guide

"Tourmaline Surfing Park is a rocky beach on the border of La Jolla and Pacific Beach, just south of False Point. It is a popular surfing, windsurfing, fishing, kayaking, and diving beach. (Swimming is not allowed.) The beach stretches one mile to Crystal Pier, a 720-foot public fishing pier at the foot of Garnet Avenue, the main street through Pacific Beach. Originally built in 1926, Crystal Pier has a row of rental cottages. It is the only pier on the west coast that provides over-the-ocean lodging. This coastline hike also passes through Palisades Park and Pacific Beach Park. Palisades Park is a grassy bluff-top park with paths that lead from the 50-foot bluffs to the wide, sandy beach. Pacific Beach Park is a landscaped park with benches on the low, sloping bluffs near Crystal Pier in the heart of Pacific Beach. For further hiking, parallel pedestrian and bicycle paths line Pacific Beach, connecting it to Mission Beach Park."
